Volume Ducking Issue

When I receive a notification while watching videos or listening to music, the volume lowers and does not return to normal levels once the notification disappears.

The volume does not return to normal until I go to notifications center and clear any notification, not necessarily the one that caused the volume to lower.

A similar question was posted last year and recommended keeping the device up to date. My phone’s operating system is multiple versions past the one from last year’s question and the issue persists. I also had the same issue occur on previous versions of the OS as well.

Sometimes this happens many times repeatedly. The issue disappeared for a number of months and didn’t return until yesterday for no apparent reason.
