📡 How to disable iPad location on Find My Friends but not iPhone

Hello,

My friend wants to track where I am, that way he can estimate when I will be home. However, when he tries to track my location using the "Find My" app, it only updates my iPad which is resting at home charging. He cannot see my iPhone location unfortunately. The iPad location always seems to take priority over the iPhone location. How can I disable Find My Location on the iPad so that way only the iPhone is tracked?

I just tested this between an iPhone 6s and a 2017 iPad Pro.

Both devices use same AppleID, are on the same WiFi, and were unlocked in front of me; both on iOS 13.7.

YMMV, but here’s what worked.

On the device you WANT to define your location (in your case the iPhone)

In Settings -> AppleID -> FindMy ...

... there in an option to “Use this [device] as my location”

Click it and the “to be used” device shifted between the two devices.

(I actually swapped it twice to make sure it wasn’t a fluke)

Like I said, YMMV.
