Notes getting slow on iPadPro

When I switch between Notes on my iPadPro, the opening process slowed down recently.

In the last two days I prepared quite a few big size Notes by handwriting.

Is it possible to archive in Notes somehow?

We appreciate the update, Peter!

We're glad to hear that it seems to be resolved for now. Regarding iCloud storage and Notes, when using iCloud, it syncs the data and stores it on iCloud. To provide a bit of a description of how it works, when you're logged in and using iCloud for Notes, you're essentially opening a "window" to the iCloud server. Keeping that in mind, you can sync the note to iCloud, then go to Settings > Tap account > iCloud > Notes, and disable that. Upon doing so, any notes that are synced using iCloud would be removed from your device, but remain in iCloud.

That means, that you'd need to enable the feature each time to make changes from that device, or you can make changes from iCloud on a computer.

We hope that helps, and have a great week!

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Angyal65!

From our understanding, your Notes app seems to be operating slowly when switching from one note to another. We’d be happy to take a look at this with you!

You mentioned that this seems to have occurred in the past few days after creating some larger sized notes done via handwriting, are those the only notes that are affected? For example, if you open a typed note, does the same thing occur? If you create a new typed note, does it also experience slow performance?

Also, while you can’t archive the notes, you can “Set up Notes with iCloud” using the steps found here, which will keep them safe for the future: Use Notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Cheers!

Thanks for your support, ManJor!

In the meantime I cleaned the not necessary Notes, plus restarted the iPad :-), and it seems, that my problem is solved.

However there is another question came up relating to the "Notes in the iCloud".

Is it possible to store a Note ONLY on the iCloud, which does not appear on the device?

Regards,

Peter
