Usual means, as mentioned above and in the linked info, is to use the 🍎 menu.

It is not advisable to use it unless the normal method fails, but you can hold down the power button for a few seconds.

Why can you not go to Apple menu top left and click on Shut Down?

The power button on the iMac is not at all in an obvious location, having helped more than a few folks to find that.

And that obscure (arguably even bad) iMac power button placement being why I know about that tech note.

Nor might be the use of the 1.5s button-press sleep and the 10s long-press halt be obvious to folks, either.

So... yeah. There’s documentation.
