mac mini still connected to internet and data transfer stops

Why does data stop transferring but I am still connected to the internet?

Late 2012 mac-mini, AT&T Uverse 100Mbs fiber. Watching Youtube. Trying another site brings nothing. I don't get any error message. It just sits there and waits for the transfer to resume. No matter how long I wait, turning wifi off then on starts data transfer right where it left off. I set up an ethernet connection and the same thing happens.

The first thing I would have suggested would be to use ethernet, but, good for you, you already tried that. That would seem to indicate that there is a problem with your modem/router. I would first try resetting it. That can often clear things up. You could also connect to an internet speed tester such as Speedtest.net to run a test of your internet access speed. That might be informative. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your reply. The router has been up for 5 days 21 hours. I didn't make the connection before (ha ha) but we lose wireless television periodically also. It always fixes itself unless we lose patience and reboot the router. Speed tests are fine. It's an all data or no data problem. Don't tell anybody but the router speed test gets 110 - 125Mbps from our 100Mbps limit.
