Hairline crack on IPad Pro and its use with Apple Pencil

I have a relatively new IPad Pro still within its one year warranty, but it has a hairline crack across the screen possibly due to impact. It is almost invisible there is some damage on the edge. The thing is would still be perfectly usable with the Smart Keyboard but my primary usage is for digital art with Apple Pencil. It would cost a lot to replace the screen. Is it ok to continue using the Apple Pencil? Will the crack get worse? Increase damage? Thank you.

In general, screen damage is not covered by the limited device warranty. If you have purchased AppleCare+ coverage, you can use one of your two “incidents” - and exchange your damaged iPad for a replacement iPad of the same model and specification.

An screen damage is likely to spread. Your Pencil, although likely used with appropriate care, will deliver “local point pressure” that may stress the glass and cause the crack(s) to spread. At best, screen response will likely be impaired - and will continue to decline as the damage worsens.
