Why do Quicktime and Preview not have that little black circle/ball underneath them to tell me they are open?

Hi, Thank You. It was turned on, so I unchecked it and restarted my mac. And then went back an re-checked it. I opened Quicktime and voila! And that little black circle showed up! I am loving my new 16" Powerbook, man the screen is absolutely fantastic! In the hospital I have to work with a Samsung Chromebook. NEVER EVER in my personal life. That little track pad they have is like 3/4 inch high by maybe 2 inch long. It is a very painful computer to use.

I asked IT & S at the hospital. He said if turning it off and re-starting did not work, he would, like you recommned turning off all outside security apps and software and extensions. Then turning them back on one by one. But all I did was follow Old Toads method and it is working super. Thank You for your help.

I switched to all Apple product when Windows Millenium came out, year 2000. Want to know how often that Dell was rebooted each and every evening? About 8 times. I almost got to like that Blue Screen of Death! I have never owned anything else since then, all Apple. I am a semi-retired nurse, and not very tech savy. But I do know how to search, and I always start with Apple. The support communities here are really excellent, and the answers can most of the time be understood by any adult. Thanks :)
