I accidentally deleted my iMessage thread with someone this morning after I had backed up my phone last night and now for that person I am only able to get iMessages dates back to March? When I click on messages it is still saying “downloading messages from iCloud” but when I checked after it disappeared no more messages were downloaded past March? I also get the “more photos will be shown once messages finish indexing” and I don’t know what that means?
If you were using messages in iCloud - Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support and deleted those message(s), then they are permanently gone.

They were on iCloud and backed up last night then this morning when I accidentally deleted the thread and restored my phone from my last backup (which was last night) it wonky downloaded iMessages up to March 2020 from a year ago?
If you were using that feature -- messages in iCloud, then the messages won't be part of a backup (see link I provided above). Therefore, once those message(s) were deleted, they are permanently gone.
Question: iMessages not downloading!!
