Muffled dialogue

Recently we are unable to watch the movies that we have purchased through ITunes or movies selected through Disney Plus. The opening music sounds normal, but at soon as there is dialogue, it is so muffled that you cannot hear What is being said. Programs through Noggin are fine. These are all run through my Apple TV. Help! How can we fix this?

One possibility is a stereo vs. surround discrepancy. If you have stereo speakers, then set the Apple TV to stereo. Dialog in surround sound is most prominent in the Center channel, which doesn’t exist with two speakers. That wouldn’t be an issue with content that is steamed as stereo.
