So, had one extra standard user. I deleted the user and all data but when I reach the login screen the user is still visible as an option. And all settings I set to log in with username and password instead of selecting user doesn't work. Nothing I do seem to influence that screen.
Running the latest version of Catalina on a Mac Mini.

Solved it. I added a user with the same account name but different name so the folder was theoretically the same. Logged in and out into both accounts and then from admin account deleted it. Now it works!

Lol! Well, I don't remember the field names. But there's one place where you write in the user name, and one which will correlate to the folder. I put the folder to the same name as before and new user name. Read something that if the user name is the same as admin, it might create a weird conflict.
I deleted the user according to the page you sent me, and I chose to delete everything. I started up in safe mode, did a disk utility, but none of it worked.
Did you log out of the user account you are trying to delete?

Yes. I haven't been logged in to it for ages and I've restarted the computer multiple times since last logged in. IE turn off power.
