disnoted process

I understand that the disnoted is the Distributed Notification process. It seems like every now and then, it will consume 100% of my CPU and become very intrusive in its presence.

Is there a way to tune this or set some parameters to make it less intrusive?

Hi ArtyYeo,

It sounds like some internal processes are using a significant amount of your CPU. We can help get you pointed in the right direction.

We'd recommend starting with the steps listed here: See how apps affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity

You can find out more information about navigating the Activity Monitor here: Activity Monitor User Guide

If you continue to experience issues, it might be beneficial to reset the SMC on your Mac to see if that makes a difference with the processes. You can find out more information about resetting the SMC here: How to reset the SMC of your Mac

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Yes, I did run the Activity monitor to see why the fan kicked in and saw that distnoted was the one hogging the CPU at 100% whenever it kicked in.

Everything else was using only a small fraction of the CPU.

Could you tell me a little more about the function of distnoted, please? What role does it play and why is it so CPU-intensive?
