Trying to sign out of iCloud on my old iPad 2, but the password that I know is correct isnt working

I'm trying to sign out of Find My iPad so that i can set up my other backup on it, but my apple ID password that i'm using to sign out of iCloud isn't working for some reason. I tried going to the devices listed on the apple ID and the iPad is no where to be seen. If i try to view the iCloud account on my iPad it just shows a blank screen and the storage page says it's currently unavailable. I'm still able to sign in and out of the apple ID itself on the iPad, but for iCloud it just doesn't work at all.
