My Mac no longer recognises my iPhone in iTunes

My Mac no longer recognises my iPhone in iTunes when I connect via a USB. It is not listed under devises. I have tried all the Apple support suggestions to no avail. All software on both devises is up to date. My iPad is listed under devises and up to date but fails to connect. Just shows 'loading' but that's all. Except for the wheelof death of course.

You appear to be using macOS 10.15 which is Catalina. In this macOS, devices are no longer listed in iTunes. They are listed in FINDER. Open Finder and you should be able to see your iPhone in the left column once you connected it with a cable to your Mac.
