Pairing problem with Logitech MX Ergo trackball

I'm using MacBook Pro 2016, running 10.12.6 Sierra.

When I try to connect it with my Mac, it quickly repeats 'connected' and 'not connected' on Bluetooth Preference menu and doesn't pair up.

(It works just fine with my another Mac running Catalina)

This Logitech support document says that it supports macOS 10.12

My Logitech Option app is the latest version available for Sierra, 7.14.77.

I've contacted Logitech support, but they just told me to "reinstall the Logitech Options app".

I'm having problem on connecting on Bluetooth menu on System Preferences, not the Options app.

Solved. I had this same problem. I spent an hour trying many of the solutions I found here and elsewhere. Then I solved it. Hold down two buttons, the little button just behind the ball and the button just behind the wheel which is in front of the 1 and 2, for about 5 seconds I believe, and then it will pair, no problem at all.
