HDMI Adapter Cable

Hi so I just got my HDMI adapter cable - its an adapter that has hdmi, memory & usb in one - i plugged in the hdmi to my laptop the other day and it worked fine - now when i plug it in it makes a weird screeching sound & starts to heat really fast and then makes a strange odor.... is this normal? Anyone know what is wrong?

No, that is not normal.

Stop using it.

Contact the place you purchased it or the manufacturer.

Most likely you can get a new one under warranty.
