Series 1 Apple Watch face falling off

Has anyone else had the issue of their Apple Watch face/screen falling of. Like the whole glass part lifting up exposing the battery - this just happened to my watch and I know it's manufacturing defect due to a swollen battery. When did the extended warranty (replacement) for the series 1 expire? I saw successful replacements from 2017. Anyone having success with getting it paid for or how to fix it yourself? This is a manufacturing and design flaw that should be covered IMO. I don't want to spend $200 for a new watch (plus $150 on new airpods which now die after an hour). Both products should last more than 3 years no? Why would I repurchase when they will only last for another 3 years? BTW no damage and I take really good care of these items. Is it really a watch that only last 3 years?

I have a series 1 Apple Watch that the face have just popped off. These watches are not cheap and this issue should be covered a lifetime. I appears that the battery has swollen on the top causing the top to pop off.

I would normally agree. However those watches were made poorly and it is manufactured horribly if I spent 400+ I would like for the item with proper care to last more then 1 yr.

Here’s the warranty for Rolex watches, the most expensive watches in the world.

Rolex guarantees the proper functioning of its watches for a period of five years from the date of purchase. The Rolex guarantee excludes normal wear-and-tear (notably the wear-and-tear of non-metal bracelets and straps), loss, theft, or damage due to misuse.

So if you paid $20K for a Rolex and it breaks after the warranty period you are on the hook for repairs.

And by the way, a series 1 Apple watch is more than four years old (released in 2016). In addition Apple has remained at the very top of all customer service and customer satisfaction surveys for two decades so your claim that these watches were “poorly” made is not rational, let alone true. Sure, people are frustrated when something they purchased breaks out of warranty but it happens with everything. I, for example, have a series 0 (original) watch purchased in 2015 and it’s still going strong, still holds a charge, still keeps time. I don’t use it much any more because of the series 4 I also have.

Spending $400 for a watch is a personal decision, not necessary in any way.
