Need password to enable touch id

I just got a new Mac air and I have no idea how to get it to open. It says I need a password to enable Touch ID but I don’t know the darn password. How do I find the password

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

You would have set a password when you first set up the Mac. If you need to reset it:

Change or reset the password of a macOS user account

It's normal to need a password when the Mac boots up or is restarted, that's by design for security reasons. Touch ID works when you wake the Mac from sleep.
