Keyboard should be backlit on startup

This is not a new topic (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6719019).


Perhaps it hasn't been addressed because Apple don't know why it's needed. So here's why, at least for me:


I often work in bed at night. When a restart is required, I have difficulty signing in because I can't see the keys. Turning on the light is not an option. Disabling File Vault is not an option. Going to another room is an option, but it's cold and I'd rather not leave my warm bed! This has annoyed me for years.

Why do you not have your mac set up to automatically login, then you would not need to

enter a password.


System Preferences> Security & Privacy > General


uncheck the Disable automatic login
