news crashes on launch Mac

News crashes on launch on Macbook Pro. The error is "EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)". I cloned preferences from a known working system and it still crashes. I would like to reinstall, but I don't know how. When I Google it, it tells me how to uninstall it, which I'm now willing to do when I can't reinstall.

Please help me.

Mac App Store Crashing On Launch The app store is crashing when I try to launch it on my new MBP. I tried disabling all background and startup items and restarting. No help. I tried disconnecting it from my CalDigit Element Hub and restarting. No help. Then I tried booting to safe mode and it worked. How do I diagnose where the conflict is? Thank you!

The News app is installed with macOS. You can Reinstall macOS without deleting your data.
