Found kind of a work around for Apple TV. If you start the tv show from purchased, go like a minute in. Back out then go to “Watch Now” the tv show will now sow on the Up Next section and you can’t begin to binge watch. This is still odd as you don’t need to do this HBO, Peacock, or other apps. This however does not work if you have in the past purchased one or more episodes of a sitcom and later buy the “Complete Series” for some reason Apple TV will get confused and ask you to buy the next episode even though you’ve purchased the entire series. So kind of a fix but Apple should at least chime in here with a total fix for all platforms. Just an FYI.
You need to go to the App Store and update HULU. Finally fixed! Thought I was nuts
Just come off the phone to Apple. It would appear this is not an issue they are aware of but unfortunately are unable to change directly. The suggestion has been for everyone on this forum to leave feedback on apple.com/feedback noting the problem in the hope that if enough of us do it, the developers take note. Not ideal but the only option for the moment.
Someone sent me this paragraph below.I Haven’t tried it yet. Not sure I even have an “up next” queue and certainly don’t know where it is if I do. Hope this helps although I’m doubtful. RgjII
When you have a show series you want to have auto play, try adding the series to your "Up Next" queue and start watching it from that screen. This should allow the series to play continuously without having to start the next episode manually. Take a look at more information on using the "Up Next" queue here:
Works for apple content, but third party purchases don't. It's why I've refused to buy any title from them since this started happening. Usually VUDU or Prime will have similar costs and even if they don't I'll pay a bit extra if I can binge watch. Apple doesnt care about this issue because it's not a security problem or hasn't been made public enough for there to be an outrage.
Hi there Dazamax,
We understand you're experiencing an issue with the next episode not playing as expected on your Apple TV, and we'd like to see if we can assist.
Do you see the next episode in your Up Next queue as expected? Learn more here: Watch Now in the Apple TV app
Specifically, take a look at the "See what's up next" section.
Cheers!
I called with this issue about a month ago. My AppleTV app received an update on Roku and the auto play feature stopped working. I was on the phone for over an hour with a really great rep who consulted her peers, manager, etc. We tried everything anyone could think of. I was told this was the first they were hearing of the issue and they didn’t have a solution. I’mhoping they’ll figure this out soon as it is extremely disruptive and I haven’t been using the app. Makes me wish I bought my content with a different provider.
Dazamax,
Thanks for that information.

Take care!
I’m noticing on both Roku and Samsung, the only auto play episodes are those from AppleTV+
Pasting the link for feedback again since it looks like it was removed:

You can leave feedback for the app specifically.
This has nothing to do with Hulu OR Apple TV - this has to do with the Apple TV APP that is available on Roku, smart TVs and other smart devices. Completely different and Hulu is not relevant to this thread.
Anyone else now noticing that the show you are watching isn't even on the 'up next' that pops up during the credits of a show for the next episode? I now have to wait until it pops back out to the main "Watch Now" menu to keep watching...
I think it’s a matter of time before your iPad stops as well. It’s not just the Apple TV versus other products. It’s the whole app regardless of platforms. From my iPhone Apple TV app, there’s not even an option to add anything to my Up Next unless it’s Apple original content. It’s a really ****** business model to allow people to purchase content through iTunes and then make it so horribly user unfriendly to even access and only allow users to auto play their original content. I can’t believe how many people are commenting on this thread and Apple isn’t even acknowledging that there’s an issue they need to address. It’s pretty shameful.
This is awful. Auto play works just fine on my iPad Air 3 , but not at all on my Roku app. As someone who binges the office every night, having to click on the next episode is driving me crazy. Especially when IT WORKS ON MY IPAD. I just bought the office, futurama, and parks and rec complete series as I am not about to get peacock, and am now regretting choosing iTunes. I’m tempted to try and get a refund and use Amazon or Vudu or something. I really thought Apple had their stuff together more than this...
Same issues no auto play on any device I use which includes iPhone iPad PS4 and roku this is the most basic streaming feature how can it just not exist that’s possibly the dumbest move I’ve seen apple make yet
