Crackling sound when on call

Quite often when placing a call I hear a loud crackling sound coming from the receiver. The sound can be compared to crumpling up paper. Unfortunately, this sound lasts the duration of the call and the only way I seem to get around this issue is to have the person call me. I recently noticed that this issue occurs always when watching videos at a high volume. Can someone please help me rectify this issue?
