Hello iliaG1707,
It sounds as though CarPlay on your vehicles radio is crashing when in use? If so, we do want to advise that there is a possibility that it may lead to having you contact your vehicle or radio manufacturer for additional troubleshooting steps. Before it leads there though are you having issues with the iPhone itself freezing during this time, or only CarPlay on the radio? If the issue is only with CarPlay and the radio is it with each app and function, or only when a specific app is in use? Since having issues with CarPlay freezing have you restarted the iPhone, and confirmed that you're running the latest iOS version? If not, we do recommend those steps as well.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Have a great day.
I have the same issue in a 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback with the new Mazda system I learned that the SD card from Mazda was causing some issues so I removed it and so far no more looking or crashing black screen only problem now is the audio sometimes cuts off after a few minutes have to power off the system and power back on to solve Mazda did a update on my car but did not solve the issue
Hello iliaG1707,
We're glad you had the opportunity to reach out to your vehicles manufacturer, and confirmed the radio is up-to-date, along with the iOS being up-to-date as well. Are you using the built-in Maps application, or a third-party navigation app? No matter the app in use we recommend trying the steps outlined below.
If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won't open
If the issue continues after those steps, let us know which apps is in use, and we'll continue from there.
Take care!
Hi, i already spoke to the car company multiple times and they made sure the carplay system is up to date. my phone is up to date as well with all updates. this happens mainly while using the GPS while driving, i use my car and GPS a lot for work so having my carplay crash often times while driving is very inconvenient to say the least.
i use the original apple gps app as well as waze and google maps. the other apps i use during my drive are spotify, uber eats and doordash. both my wife and i experience the same issue since we updated our phones about a week ago or so..every 5-15 minutes of driving carplay crashes and freezes. i then need to disconnect the phone for the car screen to go back to normal, but when i try to reconnect the phone it gives me a message "carplay failed to connect" and then it just wouldn't work but maybe after about 15-30 minutest he car screen reboots and then i can connect the phone again.
That’s a correct analysis. My 2019 CX-3 crashes on me after about 15-30 mins of usage. I have updated the vehicle firmware several times at the dealership and called up Mazda for that. Nothing has fixed it so far. It’s so inconvenient and at times dangerous if one is in an unknown mountain route and looses the gps. Any how... looks like Mazda issue, but not sure if it happens with the android version of it or not.
I’m having the same issue with a CX-9 and it’s randomly doing the same thing. I was using iOS 14 beta so that might be part of it. The volume won’t work after it resets and it won’t connect.
I'm having the exact same problem on my CX-2019. And my wife is having the same issue with Android auto so the problem is obviously Mazda
