is there a way to play my digital music on my hard disc only without an active subscription?
I only listen to music on my hifi system from my cds or hard disc. subscription feels like renting forever without owning.

If your music is on your hard drive, you can play the music With or without an active Apple Music subscription.
You only need a subscription if the music is in the cloud. Do you have an Apple Music subscription?
