Restore Deleted Files Emptied from Trash

I accidentally deleted a bunch of files from my iCloud drive on my mac by placing the files into the Trash and then emptying the Trash. This happened because I thought I copied these files into a new file, but what must have happened was that I only transferred them.

I read that a you can restore from iCloud online. I logged into my iCloud account online to restore the recently deleted files, but it isn't showing any of those files. It just happened an hour or so ago. I just ran a test to see if files weren't showing up in my online iCloud recently deleted folder. I did the same thing, but with just one file (Copy file into new location, old one to Trash, empty Trash), and that one file is showing up in the online iCloud recently deleted. What gives?

This is a big deal because the files I thought I copied, but accidentally transferred and then deleted were a whole year of classes I teach. I'd really like to get all the documents, keynotes, videos, tests, quizzes, etc. without having to do all that work again.

Sorry, just one thing to change in my post. When I ran my test of the one file, it was only showing up in Recently Deleted while it was in the Trash. After I emptied Trash, it disappeared as well.

So I guess my big question is, what can be done to recover files emptied out of the Trash? I've already tried using "Disk Drill" and it didn't find the files.
