Significant locations could not be loaded error

Anyone else having a problem not being able to toggle on significant locations? When I go to the settings first it take a few seconds to even see the significant location option. Then when it does appear there's the purple arrow, and it says off. When a try and toggle it to on I get the error below and goes back to off. I tried clearing history, logging in/out of icloud, and even erase and restore and still the same issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey Jeff not sure when you noticed it but mine happened while on iOS 14 public beta then updated to the final release. I tried everything to get it back. It worked when I downgraded to iOS 13 then when I updated back to final release iOS 14 same thing. I reset everything and still no go. I ended up setting up my iPhone as new and started from scratch and it has worked fine since. A bit of a drastic solution but the only thing that worked for me.

Hi VasiliosG!

It sounds like you’re unable to enable significant locations on your iPhone, and we're happy to help. If you haven’t already, please try restarting the iPhone:

Restart your iPhone

If the issue is still present, please back up your iPhone before proceeding:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you have backed up, you can reinstall the iOS software using these instructions:

If you can’t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue is still present, try restoring the iPhone to factory settings and setting it up as a new iPhone:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If this issue is present after restoring to factory settings, you can contact Apple Support using this link:

Cheers!

Hey Jeff

Thank you for the reply...after trying everything in your list in order of least amount of pain the only thing that ended up correcting the problem was to set my iPhone up as new and not restore anything from the backup. I tried restoring from backup and the problem reappeared. So something in the backup was causing this issue.

Thanks again stay safe
