iTunes Windows v12.10.9.3 error 4000 for iOS 14

Trying to update to iOS 14 with this version but both my iPad Air 3rd gen & my iPhone 11 Pro keep throwing error 4000 after extracting the file. My searching says that I need the "latest version of iTunes" but I have the latest version.

Anyone running into this?

Windows, Windows 10

So after many attempts I found something that worked.

I temporarily disabled / removed my passcode to unlock my device, and disabled auto lock. I had to put in my Apple ID password to do so. I didn’t have to disable face id.

hopefully this works for others. Good luck!

after the update it prompted me to create a passcode.

Same here, latest iTunes tested with two iPhone XRs and one iPhone 7 on two different computers.

If passcode is enabled, I get an error 4000 trying to update the IOS.

If I disable the passcode, it works perfectly.

I don't like having to set up my ApplePay cards each time I upgrade, though.

I know over-the-air upgrades are a thing, but I'd like to download it once on my PC and update all my phones with it ... not have each handset spend ages downloading and processing the update file.

After dealing with this on my - and my wife's - iPhones (11 and 11 Pro), I performed a "dirty" update to all devices (including my iPad Pro). Disabling the passcode isn't an option for me on my iPhone, since I have a ton tied to it. My wife's literally cannot disable it, due to corporate policy.

For iOS 14.1 on my iPad, I bit the bullet and disabled the passcode (after first forgetting to do so).

Upon requesting the upgrade the second time, it had to "re-backup" the iPad (more of a comparison than a full 100GB re-backup), but it definitely took a long time.

It's probably the encryption or something in iTunes related to communicating with the device (I wouldn't go as far as to say "secure enclave", but all of my devices either have Touch ID or Face ID).

The latest version of iTunes (12.9.3 or 12.10.9.3 on Windows) has an issue there.

Also - this update took a reeeeeally long time on "Verifying updated iPad software..." after "waiting for iPad".

I got nervous and nearly restarted my iPad.
