why are some older iPhone models as expensive as the newest ones?

Why are some older iPhone models as expensive as the newest ones? The iPhone X and XS with 64GB is as expensive as the iPhone 11. Are the older ones better phones? More expensive to make?

Those are discontinued models. So if you’re looking at used devices at non-Apple authorized sellers, they will set their price as high as they can get.


Apple authorized sellers selling old stock will sell at the price the device was sold at while still in production. As authorized sellers, they have very little discretion in discounting prices, even once Apple itself stops selling a model.
