Workout maps gone in iOS 14?

Are workout maps gone in iOS 14? I used to be able to view a map of bike rides, walks, etc. in previous versions of iOS. It was one of my absolute favorite features in the Fitness app!

Please tell me it isn’t so! I would be so disappointed 🥺

Same here.

No Maps from iOS 13 Workouts showing at all, on new iOS 14 workouts, if I'm lucky I'm getting a map with a single pin on the starting point, but no route information. Tried with Outdoor Walk and Cycle.

GPS is working though since thats the only way to measure an Outdoor Cycle.

Strange things are happening ....

I followed the advised Apple procedure now 3rd times.

The first 2 time no change at all: no sync from watch to Fitness App (but in health data you could see the data, etc....).

I've tried now exactly the same a third one ... and hurray: did two bicycle outside workouts and a walk outside workout and now I have all data incl. GPS maps in Health and in Fitness App! And also RunGap is able to import it from Health again with Maps.

Only thing left: all older workouts only have the starting pin and not the full route and one running workout from 2 days before is now missing (I see the data in Health sources from the watch) but its not seen by Fitness App nor by RunGap - but ok...

Weird, after reinstalling everything from scratch (according to the last Apple instructions) and validated that the pre-IOS14 routes were not recovered and just the ones between installation of IOS-14 and update to AppleWatch-7 were shown ok.

But after a while, 40-50 minutes I realized that the old route maps were there, maybe Fitness was still doing some recovery when I checked the 1st time....

But now, 5 hours after, I checked again and the old routes are maps with just the starting point. ???????!!!!!!!??????

Hi,

I’ve followed Apple procedure and it worked. I consider myself lucky compared with the users reporting that it didn’t changed anything. In my case, everything is back to normal. All the data is back, including the maps of the old workouts. I just had an issue with Strava and its importing workouts option from Health to Strava but it got fixed after I uninstall/reinstall Stava app.

I hope Apple will release a fix for those who are still experiencing the issue because I know how frustrating is the situation.

iPhone XR and watch S3.

I’ve lost my maps on all old workout and on new workouts just see the start pin, but everything else seems to be working fine.

I tried unpairing my watch and repairing it, setting it up as a new watch but nothing changed. Last night I tried unpairing and repairing but this time restoring the backup onto the watch. Still just showing maps with a start pin but now the weather was is displayed for the workout, which didn’t happen before.

Very strange. I am not planning to wipe my phone per Apple’s suggestion. Aside from not having the time, it suggests that you should do it if you have two or more of the issues listed. I only have one - missing maps.

Ditto. Did the unpair, backup, erase, pair fix yesterday and I am now getting new run maps (well, I got today’s at least!) but all previous maps are gone with just starting position recorded. Not a major issue for me though as I can still see distance and other metrics. Hope Apple work out a better fix as this was 2 hours I’ll never get back!

so did the remove watch, format phone and restart all from backups. I did a walk and got the full map again but none of my old maps came back. Just the pin. I will be using Nike and Strava going forward and I do have backups, but this has to be one of the biggest cluster f. Apple Watch user since day 1...lots and lots of history 😒

I finally had a chance to reset and erase my phone. Re-set up from iCloud backup.

Most of my historical stats are now looking good (stands, steps etc).

routes since 25th sept now showing on phone, old ones not.

show all workout routes only has the one watch showing (current name of W5), but my W3 and old W5 name doesn’t show as a route supplier, but they all show as step and distance supplier.

I'm having the same issue as others since downloading iOS 14. The route maps have disappeared. I've looked at several settings to no avail, but it seems that everyone is having this issue.

My Apple watch is generation 1, but that didn't matter until this latest "upgrade." I LOVED those route maps, but now I just get one pin where I started. HEY APPLE: please fix this!

I have also had a further look and I only have maps since the 25th Sept (think thats the day I did the rename watch thing).

No other routes showing let alone maps. In the show all routes sources and access only my current watch shows, but under the actual data source and acsess all my watches show.

So the actual workouts I did are all there but no routes for that data because those devices are not in the list of devices allowed to provide routes.
