With iOS 14.2 on my iPhone XS, it seems that time is always correct (which was not with earlier 14.x), BUT once the background switches to dark after sunset it does not switch back to white the morning after. Manually toggling the Date/time options 12/24 hrs or Manual/Automatic resets the correct daytime background.

Heres the instructions for a hard restart.
Hi, actually the sync issue (wrong time) has not shown up any more on my iPhone XS since installation of iOS 14.2 (smart small widget stack clock + weather on home screen). However, the following problems are ALWAYS present:
Both issues are solved by manually toggling the 12/24hr switch in Settings->General->Date and Time: background goes back to white and/or the widget clock restarts with the correct time
That's not (entirely) it. Notice how the hour hand is in the correct position for 7:13 (a bit after the 7) but the minute hand is not? I spotted this on my iPhone 11 and I can tell you that the second hand is in the wrong position too (passes 12 but minute on springboard clock does not change).
1, Restart your phone
2, Go to Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically to On.
The clock app pulls the time from Time.gov for the United States and various other sources for other countries. Its more likely that your iPhone time is out of sync
Crap, wrong way around.
"The iPhone time pulls the time from Time.gov for the United States and various other sources for other countries. Its more likely that your clock app is out of sync"
Sorry bout that, late night right now for me XD
But in theory, we could possibly resync the clock by clearing the cache.
It would seem that the Clock widget does not run while the iPhone is locked. The widget gets suspended until the phone is unlocked again. I had both the app and the widget synched for as long as I left the display on. After locking the phone and coming back later, the time difference was the amount of time the iPhone was locked. At least this is my own personal observation.
Hey, maybe there is a solution/workaround but I'm not sure yet.
Having this issue myself, I tried everything, but what seems to work is to create a smart widget stack with the clock not on top.
Or remove the smart stack and replace it with just the clock.
Just give it a try and let us know :)
My Clock widget is frozen. The seconds hand doesn’t move either. Rebooting, volume up/down, gets the clock going but eventually clock widget goes dead. Removing and re-adding Clock widget didn’t work. Looks like a bug.
Yes, I have to toggle 24-Hour Time off and on in the Settings app to get the clock going again. If I add another widget, it stops. Then when I toggle 24-Hour Time off and on in Settings app, it gets going again. Weird.
Same issue. Widget is freezing. The clock app icon runs just fine and the phone keeps track of time just fine.
various ways of getting the widget going again seem to be only temporary.
clearly a bug. And given that the app has been fine for ages, kind of annoying and silky.
I preformed the hard reset and then selected the clock widget with 4 faces, the hands were moving this time finally. However to test the longevity of this fix, I removed and re-placed the widget only to see that the hands were back to a stationary position. I know I could leave the widget as is after hard reset but I wanted to see if it would still work after the phone is reset or battery ran out and turned on again but no. Just a temporary fix, I’m hoping they release a bug fix in a software update. :(
If it affects thousands if not millions of us, I’m surprised they’ve not done anything about it sooner tbh. That’s not a dig at them, it’s just I see in the update infos all the time little fixes to things that never affected me before so I’d have assumed it woulda been ironed out by now.
So after reporting the bug here earlier ... I've run the widget for a while now.
And strangely, without any restarts or anything else to "help", just leaving the widget on my home screen and accepting it ... it's gotten better over time to the point now that it's perfectly fine.
I'm wondering if there's an adaptive process that controls how often a widget is allowed to refresh, and that for the clock it's initially bad, but adapts to being continuously on the home screen.
Anyone else had a similar experience?
I’m still seeing the graphic freezing intermittently- happened again this weekend.
The only way I’ve found to fix this is to reinstall. And then it breaks again at some point. Highly frustrating as I like having the large widget.
Hoping Apple fix this soon !!!
