iOS 14 Widgets
the widgets aren't refreshing, like weather and screen time they just freeze and don't refresh which is useless for what they are made for , any suggestions?

Upon the last two iOS 14.* updates, after a phone restart, my clock widget has appeared with the clock face hands completely missing. On this latest update to iOS 14.1, I noticed that the hands had appeared but were no longer moving (frozen).
Upon googling, I stumbled across an article talking about this issue and it suggested enabling Background App Refresh. I've now done this and the issue appears to be completely resolved.
Simply navigate into Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh and toggle this to Wi-Fi only (you can probably do Wi-Fi & Mobile Data if you really want but I don't want anything chomping through my cellular data). Now, upon restarting the phone, the widgets appear to be refreshing properly and the clock widget hands are moving again.
I recommend anyone experiencing this issue to try this fix - it's worked for me.
no problem thank you
They seem to refresh, they are just doing so very slowly. It’s not instantaneous like it used to be :(
So frustrating isn't it?
I have the same problem. Apple, please let me know how to manually refresh my widgets. Unbelievable that Apple published iOS 14 and widgets with this bug.
I can’t believe Apple has not addressed this issue.
i too suffer from the same disappointing freezing clock and weather widgets.
Thank you soo much. I just bought my first iPhone ever a few months ago and I love it!
Doesn’t work. I have app background refresh set on WiFi and the widget still freezes.
Thank you. I'll try that!
still working and accurate 12 hours later...
I have all apps set as on for that background refreshing. I am using only native widgets so far. I have reboot my phone few times already, it works for a while but then stop again.
If no fixing found, hopefully it will next update. Which concerns me is many similar cases reported here since September so it's weird not being addressed still.
It's possible your iPhone storage is not willing to allocate space for widgets. Can you tell us the amount of available storage you have?
