No content available in Photos widget on iPhone

The photo widget is blank. It says no content available

Same issue. Can't figure out how to add photos to the photo widget on my phone. It just says "No content available" and when I tap the widget, it takes me to photos with no option to add a photo to the widget. There's also no option when you tap and hold the widget.

I have seen this asked in a few places and Apple aren’t answering. It seems like the widgets that are built in aren’t worth using. Hate that the updates are inevitable and you have no choice whether or not they ruin your phone for a while until they have actually developed something properly. Wish they would release things that work straight off though other than using us all as guinea pigs because they want to keep up with the competition whether they have actually have the information to keep up or not. So it looks like the choice is to not use the widget or to have a blank grey one on your screen as it seems Apple just don’t understand the technology yet but still put it out there anyway. The downfall of apple products is that they care more about image and what they can say they have on their devices, no matter on if it all actually works.
