Hi all,
After upgrading to watchOS 7 on Series 3, auto unlock is not working anymore. I get the "activating" message when trying to enable it again on the Mac and then the message I must make sure the watch is unlocked, on my wrist and the phone must be unlocked too. Everything checks out.
Already rebooted Mac and watch. Anyone else having the same problem? thanks!

I've finally fixed it! I found a bunch of errors related to "AutoUnlock" in the Console that was hinting to me that there was some invalid state on my Mac with keys and plists not being reset properly.
Steps (follow at your own discretion)
Tim3g, This was super helpful!. I had to unpair my watch and paired it again. Now my new Mac can unlock from my watch. No need to reset your watch. Just need to unpair.

This worked for me. Went down the list and put my Mac to sleep then tried waking it up. Worked like a charm. TYSM!
These instructions worked, but ONLY after I unpaired/paired the watch AND restarted the MacBook Pro.

So, I had to restart all the devices a couple of times to get this solution to work, but it did eventually work.
Got to step 9 and then you lost me. Finder just has all my documents, no library or settings. Do you mean System Preferences or back to Keychain?

An Apple Senior Support Advisor led me through these steps but it didn't work for me. What did work was to sign out of my iCloud account, restart my iMac, and sign back in.
The Monterey update to 12.4 (along with update to iOS 15.5 and WatchOS update to 8.6) seems to have resolved this issue for my 14" MacBook Pro (M1 Max).
