i can't re-download apps on my iPhone X !

hi ! so yesterday evening i deleted snapchat and instagram to focus on my schoolwork. i did this and then afterwards decided i wanted to get the apps back. so i went to app store and i tried to re-download the apps but went i pressed the cloud symbol it loaded in a circle for a long while and then just showed the cloud sign again and didn't even download. this has never happened to me before. i logged in and out of my App Store, reset all my settings, switched off my phone multiple times, i even updated my phone to the latest ios 14. i am so lost :( and really need help.
