I've updated my iphone 11 pro to ios14. If I connect my airpods 2 to iphone all video/music applications freeze. If I turn off bluetooth the applications start working well.

I am also experiencing this issue to the point where my phone has crashed and restarted multiple times when attempting to play any form of audio while the Airpod Pros are connected. I do have an Apple Watch and this appears to be interfering with the Bluetooth of the Airpods, therefore I used the workaround suggested by others to disconnect the Bluetooth on the Apple watch, then reconnect the Airpods. The audio then loaded without issue and after reconnecting the Bluetooth on the Apple watch, it is still working. Albeit, this has been very frustrating and after seeing how long this has been going on for, we can only hope Apple addresses this clearly common issue.
eringaalvez, thanks. If I turn on the airplane mode on my watch the issue is still presented. Looks like offline mode doesn't turn off bluetooth. But if I turn off bluetooth on my watch my airpods will work with my iphone. After I can return bluetooth and all devices will work together.
To sum it up ipnone can't connect to airpods if apple watch is connected.
This is a real bug! I purchase two sets of AirPods Pro for my family and I thought I was going crazy when they were telling the issues they were having. They both have apple watches too.
When both Apple Watch and AirPods are connected the iPhone comes to a complete standstill. As soon as I turn off Bluetooth on watch. Connectivity resumes
apple needs to fix this issue asap! I recently got my cellular SE watch, kow every morning I will need to turn off my Apple Watch, connect my airpods pro play something then turn on my apple watch. It works but its frustrating I have to do it 2-3 times a day. I never had this issue with my regular Bluetooth apple watch series 2.
I’ve read a few suggestions, the best way forward;
turn the Bluetooth of on your watch and connect your AirPod. Works fine so far .
Just put watch into Airplane Mode before you connect the EarPods.
Works without fail every time.
I am seeing similar issues. Once I paired AirPod pro to my iOS 14/iPhone 11 it intermittently freezes the screen. It sometimes recovers after waiting. I also noticed an issue trying to play music from AW S5 (WatchOS 7) to AirPod pros. AirPod pros are on latest firmware.
I paired airpods 2 to my ipad, ipad works fine. Also I tried to connect my iphone to philips bluetooth headphones and iphone can play music without any issues. So my problem happens only when I pair iphone/watch to airpods(

I am having the exact same issue. I have access to multiple Apple devices all work when paired with my new aipod pros...older OS versision and new. The issue only happends when pairing with a mobile device that is synced to an Apple watch. I tried on two devices my wife and my own and issue happedns no sounds and freezez music app.

I have this issue as well.
When my series 3 (OS7.2) watch and AirPods 2 are connected to my iPhone 12 Pro max (14.3), my phone constantly freezes and I can not play audio through the AirPods. When I shut down my watch, everything works normally. I have factory reset the AirPods, reset the watch, hard rebooted the phone several times and still nothing. This started for me the day after updating my watch to OS 7.2.
also, when I have the watch connected and then I take AirPods out of case for use, they show connected via Bluetooth but I cannot select them as output in the airplay menu within control panel. I tap “AirPods”, loading spin animation for a few seconds, then it just selects my iPhone speaker again. No way to even use them with watch connected. Extremely frustrating since Apple equipment is not cheap. Hoping apple fixes this issue in either a watch update or iOS update, whichever is the root cause.
Once your airpods are connected you can switch the bluetooth on your watch back over or take off airplane mode and use the watch. I set up my airplane mode to include bluetooth in the settings. So I just put my watch on airplane mode connect me airpods and then switch the airplane mode off. It is stupid that they haven't been able to fix this yet. I am sure they know about it! But at least there is a work around! I hope this helped somebody!
That work around only works for apps via phone for me. Even once connected I cannot use the Watch apps like Spotify or Apple Fitness+ Guided walks as the pods wont play the music/sound.
If an app eg Spotify is launched from the phone it will play but Fitness+ can only be used from the watch so wont wont.
Looking back at this feed seems issue started mid last year & no bug fix. I hope people have been reporting it to Apple directly otherwise it will never be resolved. Not really acceptable for a £250+ product.
ios 14.1 doesn't fix the issue
idk if anyone still needs this but try changing your earbud sizes mine were doing this but someone told me it’s because you’re supposed to get a really good fit and now they work perfect
Apple will never know about it unless those with the problem contact Apple Support directly. This is a user to user community and Apple doesn’t participate here.
