I am trying to update Xcode, but it does not let me do it, and it tells me that there is not available free space in the drive to download it, but I have 35 gb free to do so. what is happening?????

You need to free up more disk space, at least 5 times the size of the file you're downloading. See the following article for a more detailed explanation:

You have 35 GB "available". You probably have zero bytes free. You will need to free up some storage and probably delete local snapshots.
