iPadOS 14 Widgets

It won’t let me move my widgets in ANY place except the Today View. I can’t move the Today View at all and it won’t let me customize my widgets where I want them to - not the Today View. Is this just a me problem or can iPads not move their widgets outside of the Today View?

When i give widgets a try, I first enter jiggle mode, tap on the + sign, tap on “add widget,” and it immediately clasps the widget onto Today View, and when I try moving elsewhere, it just fades away and returns to Today View. Any help?

Greetings abbahne,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems you're curious if widgets on iPad can be moved out of Today View.

Widgets can't be moved from Today View on iPad, as outlined in the following article: Use widgets on your iPad - Apple Support

"After you add widgets, you can swipe to the right to see your widgets in Today View, then swipe left to hide them. Or you can choose to keep Today View visible on the first page of your Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area in the Today View until you see Keep On Home Screen, then turn it on."

You're welcome to leave feedback to Apple at the following website: Product Feedback - Apple

Kind regards.

Try holding the iPad in landscape mode. While there, change to the More and Bigger selections for APP ICONS. These are found in Settings > Home Screen & Dock. This should allow the toggle for Keep Today View on Home Screen. Notice there is an animation for the More choice which mimics Today View behavior.
