iPhone SE (1) update to ISO 14 failed

I tried to update my iPhone SE, original version, to IOS 14 using Apple Configurator 2 and let it run unattended for a while. When I got back I had the error message:

iOS cannot be restored on this iPhone.

Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFB1 (4017)]

I selected stop and tied restore again and I get the same message.

I did to a backup before all this however it appears the phone needs to boot before it can recover from the backup.

Any ideas on how to proceed.

That you for the help. What I ended up doing was waiting 12 hours and retrying "restore" in Apple Configurator 2 and it successfully loaded IOS 14.. I was then capable of restoring my data from the backup I had done in Apple Configurator 2.
