watchOS 7 Battery Drain

I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

AW5 2 months old, battery condition 100% and AW4 21 months old, battery condition 90%. After the update to WOS7, the battery on both watches quickly discharged.
In my case, it helped turn off the optimized charge on both watches and recharge the watch. At the same time, I turned off hand washing.
The consumption of the watch is similar to the state before the update.

Unpair the watch, pair the watch and restore from backup. This worked for me. Fully charged yesterday at 1000 and 23 hours later only at 50%. I did reduce screen brightness to lowest level. I don’t expect to continue to have this good of battery life, as I am not using the watch completely normal yet. Apple does need to correct this software problem as unpair/pair is a patch, not a fix. IMHO

Seems as this is not only limited to the update of the watch OS 7

I Have the same problem with the old os on a relatives watch, not fully as bad as on my updated watch thou but after 30minutes of outdoor running her watch went from 95% to below 10.. ad her watch does not on run the latest watch os

So it might be a bug introduced earlier and inherited to the new OS where it got even worse.

with the new OS I had 50% battery after 4 hours use without any training or gps use.

As others mentioned, unpair/pair the watch as new device seems to solve the issue. I am still evaluating, but it looks ok after half a day use after re-pairing

A quick update. I unpaired and paired the watch yesterday. The good news is that battery life is improved from the original update. The bad news is that it's at 80% of the old version of WatchOS. Apple needs to create software for various models and then test battery life. The new operating system needs to improve performance not hurt it. The new features are not worth the upgrade

So annoying! Here we go AGAIN, Apple releases an update that crushes battery power on another older series product. I had iPhone 6 and have lived through this issue already. You would think Apple would learn their lesson after a successful multi-million dollar class action lawsuit. They had enough time to identify, test and resolve this issue before rolling out the update.

I have series 4 and am I supposed to want to purchase series 6 now? Why should I have to jump through the hoops above to get this thing working correctly if indeed it will work at all on my watch? Do I need to contact the same law firm running the iPhone 6 class action battery debacle? I've spent probably tens of thousands on MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones, iPads, iPods, music, apps, WATCHES and peripherals since the mid 1990's for a family of four. Why?

I have carried out the unpair & pair fix and thus far it seems okay. However, as many other posts have indicated it is a jolly poor show by Apple. I feel as if they are trying to surreptitiously dip their hand into my wallet in an attempt to force an upgrade. Well - there are other alternatives to Apple and I will not hesitate taking my patronage elsewhere.

Sorry if this has already been covered. I un paired and re paired my series 4 and the battery performance is still horrible. If I set my watch up as new will I lose my watches cellular number? If so, is their a way to preserve it? I’m super nervous to do a factory reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated because y’all a way more Apple smart than me!
