watchOS 7 Battery Drain

I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

I had the same issue on my Apple Watch Series 4 after updating to iOS7. I tried shutting down background app refresh, and ensured sleep app and hand washing apps were off.

This didn't fix issue so I read on some other forums about repairing to your iPhone. So I did a reset on my watch. I restored using the same backup I just reset and today the problem seems to be gone. After a 2hour walk I have only went down 13% which is normal level. When I was running out of battery my watch was showing a 35% drop after my walk.

if restoring from the backup didn't work I was going to try setting up as new watch but obviously I didn't have to go that far.

I deleted the pairing and set it up again. That produced no change. I then powered off the iPhone, powered off the Watch, waited a little while then powered on the iPhone, waited until it was fully booted and tHen powered on the watch. That did not seem to improve things. I then did the same again, powered off the iPhone followed by powering off the Watch but then left the Watch off whilst I paired my original series 0 with the iPhone as it had been in a drawer for a long time unused. Sadly there is no update to the IOS for series 0. My thinking was that if I go out for a walk I can at least use the series 0 if power goes down on the series 4. It took quite some time to configure the series 0, ages, clearly things have improved since then. Once done I then powered up the series 4 again. It now seems to be Ok. battery power does not seem to be dropping like it did. Perhaps there is merit in leaving it off for a long time before switching on and letting it connect with the iPhone.

I am facing the same issue. Updated my Series 5 cellular Apple Watch to watchOS 7 2 days ago and I need to recharge my watch in the evening. The previous watchOS 6 would allow me to exercise 45-60 min, mirrored my iPhone notifications and it would still be left with 30% battery or sometimes even more when I went to bed. Is Apple gonna fix this? I guess many users need help on this.

Same problem here. Watch 5 44mm stainless cellular (not used), updated Sept 17. No apparent significant improvement with background notifications turned off, always-on turned off, reducing brightness and hand-washing timer turned off (loosing approx 8% per hr, even w/o activity).

I would prefer to revert to 6.1.1 to make watch useable again and also reduce unnecessary battery wear.

I had the exact same problem. I have an Apple Watch 4 and I was getting less than half a day better life after the WatchOS 7 update. Before that, I was ending each day with somewhere around 55 to 60% of my battery life left after an 18+ hour day.

The Fix that worked for me: Unpair your Apple Watch and then repair it to your iPhone. I did this after making sure my phone was backed up to iCloud, just in case. To do this, open up the watch app on your iPhone. In the top left-hand corner select "All watches", click the "info" button besides your Apple Watch icon and at the bottom you'll see in red lettering "unpair Apple Watch". This will take a while, but once it has successfully unpaired itself, just repair your watch back to your iPhone as if it was a brand new watch, except select restore from backup when you're given the option to make sure you don't lose anything.

I hope this helps as it is the only thing that has worked for me.

Apple Watch 4 and it’s ridiculous. I use my watch all day every day and I usually end up with about 20-30% battery life left by the time I go to bed. (Varies depending on the length of my workouts for the day). Yesterday I ended up below 10% three times....THREE TIMES IN A SINGLE DAY!! I was hoping it was a fluke but I went ahead and removed more than a dozen apps from my watch yesterday and turned off background app refresh on about a dozen more and then left it to charge all night. Woke up to 100% at 7:45am. Went for my regular morning walk and by 9:15am I’m already down to 79%. I have been an avid Apple Watch support even though they didn’t have sleep tracking and now that they’ve added it, the new watch doesn’t even come with a battery to honestly allow you to use it. But if they don’t fix this, I will get rid of this one and I will be an AVID detractor for the Apple Watch. Make it right Apple.

Before you unpair, go to your name under settings and see that there is a iCloud backup for watch.

Then go to watch app on iPhone click on All watches (right at top) click on ‘i’ button and start with unpairing.

Once un-pairing is done, you will see option to pair Apple Watch in the app. Your phone will open camera automatically and your watch will display a different kind of bubble shape, scan from phone camera and start pairing. It will give you option to restore or set up as new watch. Choose restore from back up. Choose the latest back up (will be right at top). you need to remember your Apple ID password. Then follow phone screen. Will take approx 40 odd minutes to restore fully. Keep

watch on charge. All the best
