iTunes payment problem

I need help with this, I have been having trouble with this for about a month now, and it hasn’t seem to go away. I had an old card on here that has been canceled now with active subscriptions. I was able to delete that card information, but I added a different card that isn’t even active and it says I still can’t remove it or download any apps without paying for them when they are free on the Apple App Store. I need help desperately with this I don’t know if I have to wait till existing subscriptions fully expire to delete all payment methods and I can’t go to my nearest Apple store cause they are all too far from where I currently live. If you can write back and know how to fix this I would appreciate it so much thank you!

I’m almost certain I’ve had this exact same issue and the reasoning behind it was that there wasn’t an active debit/credit card attached to your iTunes acc. Even though the app may be free, for whatever reason an active card needs to be attached. Idk if that’s the problem you’re having or if it’s no where near it, but I couldn’t update a lot of free apps at one point because of my iTunes subscription being denied from an old card.
