single user mode doesnt work

I can’t get my computer into single user mode to create an admin account. MacOS is set to default startup disk, there seems to be no password to get into single user mode. I’ve checked the disk for issues too. I hold down command s and I see the black screen with white letters but the then it continues and restarts the computer. Please help!

Mac Mini Won't Boot My Mac Mini is set up to have an admin account on the main internal drive and a user account on an external drive which is the account I use 99% of the time. I accidentally disconnected the external drive and I am now unable to boot to that account. I get an error that the keychain can't be found with the option to cancel or revert the keychain to defaults. Either option results in a stuck loading screen with not progress. The admin account boots fine, and I have restored the external drive to the previous day using Time Machine but there is no improvement. What should I do to get the user account back to normal?

Imac main user will not boot up I have a 2015 iMac running Monterey 12.5. I am suddenly not able to log into my main user account (which has all my stuff!). I can log into a guest account, and I was able to create another admin account where everything seems to work fine. I have tried safe mode, tried to reset the NVRAM/PRAM, I have run the disk utility (first aid) on the startup disk in recovery mode. Unfortunately, I cannot get to the point where I can see what login items are being used for my main user account. Any suggestions? Thanks.

No Administrator Account and Single User Mode not Booting Hi, got a MacBook Pro (2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) with macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 Not really sure what exactly happened but currently got no admin account. Tried all procedures I found online, but nothing worked for me. Seems like only option is to use the SUM but won't boot at all. Will go straight to the User Account. Though it will show all those text that they say online but can't get to to terminal or command line. Tried to use the Cmd+R and open terminal but still no luck. Also, it says that FileVault is turned on the disk "Macintosh HD", is this a sign that no chance of fixing this? Really need your help with this. Thank you.

According to this Apple article Single User Mode is disabled in Mojave and later versions of macOS:

Apple's former article for Single User Mode showed booting into Recovery Mode and accessing the Terminal from the Utilities menu, but the article I just linked no longer even mentions using Recovery Mode for this purpose.
