Email photo as attachment, not embedded, in iOS 14

This is exactly what I’m talking about.

• You select photo from your camera roll.
• You send them via email from there.

before it was sending them as attachment

now it’s sending them embedded in the email. If you want to save them on your computer you now have to right click them one by one, rename and save them. This is cumbersome.

What I’m saying as «other ways to do it» is that you can send an iClould link or vis text message but thesw method requires many click and are slow.

Unless people have been giving Apple direct Feedback, through Apple’s established mechanisms; Apple will make no changes based upon people’s comments within the Apple Support Communities.

Okay so then technically they are still attachments. That however is not the issue, which is where your misunderstanding lies. I don't care what they technically are, I care about how they are presented to me, which is the entire point of this thread.

You pointing out technicalities is wholly useless. You have contributed nothing to this thread.

How they are «presented to» you, without any regards to how they actually work, such as whether you can save all attachments in a single operation, ahungryhungarian?

If that is the case, then you seem to be all about appearances, regardless of substance.

If that’s the way you wish to be, about such matters, then you have what you will continue to have …

I’ve read this thread, and others like it, from the beginning, my dear ahungryhungarian.

Admittedly, even from the very beginning, there have been others who, likewise, have had trouble seeing past superficial appearances.

Moved from Samsung to Apple and I can say this issue is a major pain. Why can you not send a picture as an attachment? Also why does the embedded pic turn sideways? If I take a picture in portrait mode and attach to the email it turns it sideways. I read that you have to take in landscape mode. Why? I also, like everyone on here email pictures to my work email and then used to right click and copy the attachment and put into another email that I may have drafted on my desktop. With ios14 you cannot do that. you have to save the photo to the computer then re-attach. This makes no sense. Come on Apple!!

Regardless how images/pictures, or anything else is displayed within an email, such have always been attachments. That has been true since files have ever been allowed at attachments to emails, and is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

Being able to properly format images/pictures within your composed emails should certainly be available within Apple Mail!

If not, you should, most definitely, provide Feedback to Apple, on their email client!

There’s no good excuse for not providing such capabilities on their email client.

(As far as anything involving other email clients, and their capabilities, or how they work, or fail to work, is not within Apple’s control.)

This bug is an unbelievable mistake....and to have zero replies from Apple is simply unprofessional and unacceptable. Apple have clearly decided this is what they want for their own purposes and have no intention of changing it.

I hear you on that, but the problem was I needed to send this to a non-phone user from my phone to their email address. The photo's I had to send were on my iPhone, and would no longer simply attach to an email I would send from my iPhone using the gmail app... What a massive, inconvenient FAILURE on the part of software program development. WHY? What's the "mysterious work-around" NOW? Massive eye-roll.....

Go ahead and blame it on Outlook. I’m no fan of Outlook myself but I am absolutely sick and tired of the followers in this world telling me things like it’s perfectly normal to embed pictures in email with no alternative. BTW embedding is NOT the same as attaching.

Just think about what you are saying. You basically saying “you don’t need two ways because we figured it all out for you. You just need to shut up and get with the program”.

my new 12 pro also lags when trying like a 20 year old 8 bit computer . Many my apps no longer functional

Exactly.... The amount of people now sending me pictures with embedded files is over the top.

The reason we went to attachments back in the late 90's was because viruses were being embedded in pictures and if the picture is embedded we have no choice but to see the picture and hence... get the virus. (That was my understanding) With an attachment we get a choice if we want to open the picture.

Whats more.... it;s so much easier to do things with the picture when it's attached.

I remember those days well!

However, any decent email client (even Microsoft Outlook, then) allowed the user to choose not to have images display, automatically.

I never saw any time when people were choosing to send images within plain-text (text/plain) email, in order to avoid automatic display of images.

In fact, throughout the ‘90s, the “extinction” of plain-text (text/plain) email had already begun, only to continue its demise in the twenty-first century.

Regardless how an email may be rendered (displayed) by any given email client, images (and all other files) have always been attachments. Such is required by the Internet email standards, and is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

I’m having a photo issue with a new iPhone 12 Pro. When I select a picture in Photos to send with a text message, a DOWNLOAD circle pops up but doesn’t even begin. I have to cancel out. I’m wondering what other changes have been made to Photos.
