Thanks, So in Energy saver preferences should the power nap option be checked (selected ) or not ?
That depends greatly on your requirements.
A sleeping Mac will wake up for some functions: How Power Nap works on your Mac - Apple Support
A Mac that is shut down will not awaken for these tasks, and it’ll need to reboot to start working again.
Use Activity Monitor to see which apps are using power. You can either quit that app, or find an alternative that uses less power. Activity Monitor is in Applications > Utilities.
There can be other potential issues, too.
And the Mac can charge external USB devices while asleep, a transfer of power which will drain Mac battery power.
It’s also possible your Mac has issues, or your battery is in need of replacement: Determine battery cycle count for Mac notebooks - Apple Support
Try an SMC reset: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
In the absence of hardware issues with the Mac or with the battery, these are all trade-offs, and the decisions here are yours.
