I found a trick that helps getting them back in order without having to drag and drop them to the positions they should be in. If I notice that they have reversed, I flip the phone from portrait to landscape and back again while on the Home Screen, that usually makes them go back.

Seems to be an issue with the transition of the Home Screen on Plus iPhones to landscape mode, when the bottom dock moves to the right side of the screen.

Same here! iPhone 7 Plus just updated to iOS14, dock apps reverses order after flipping from portrait to landscape mode. Super annoying, muscle memory makes me random call people instead of playing music!

Same exact issue every morning wake up and see the dock icons in reverse order and then I move them back to usual position. iOS14.01 iPhone 7Plus It’s madding!! It never ends...... Please Apple fix it

I have the exact same problem on my iPhone 7 Plus since upgraded to iOS 14.

Is there a way we can report this to Apple? do they know about this issue? I upgraded to iOS 14.1 hoping the issue is resolved but it happened again today.

Next time I am going to try the workaround SliOp suggested see if that works.

i was able to correct this by setting the icon order while in landscape that mirror original portrait icon order. When flipped back to portrait the icons remained in my defined order. After multiple flips between portrait and landscape icons never reordered.

The rotate to landscape and back again trick didn’t work for me. But what seems to have worked: Start in landscape, arrange your icons the way you want them, and then rotate back to portrait. No more moving icons!

iPhone 8 plus iOS 14.1

I have the same issue too. I was on a 7 plus and recently upgraded to iphone 12 pro max. I thought the issue will go away when I upgrade my phone. I used the auto transfer feature to move and configure my new phone with the same settings from my older one. But surprisingly, this same issue was also transferred to the new phone. I’m wondering if this is a configuration setting?

Well mine corrected itself after updating to iOS 14.2 and then to 14.3. ...I had apps updates today and it did it again. Mail icon also turned along with the text and folder with browsers. I did a hard restart and it’s ok right now. Maybe it’s a conflict with Instagram? It was updated today. Pretty weird!!

I tried your fix and it worked like a champ. Way faster than cycling my phone off and back on. Never realized that I could look at my home screens in Landscape. Not sure why I’d want to, except to realign the app icons that misbehave. Thanks again!

I forgot to mention my phone is an 8 plus. Looking forward to next year's 13. That’s my favorite number. Did you know there is actually a thirteenth floor in the Empire State Building? Last I checked, it was vacant. Maybe Rod Serling keeps his mail there. Lol.

Related to this, my dock also randomly disappears. Only reboot will get it back.

I have this happen from time to time after install of iOS 14.1 ...Also the phone just gets stuck for like 5-10 seconds and apps won’t open.

Me too. It just started happening after the update to IOS 14. I noticed it happens when the screen rotates to landscape and then back to portrait, but not every time. It so weird.
