Apple Watch series 6 seconds hand disappears in always on display mode!

While desirable if it's disabled by default I'd imagine updating the display buffer would consume significant battery power which would reduce overall daily usage time significantly. Certainly a feature I'd imagine could be implemented in software as an option if enough people needed it.

Many healthcare institutions these days (at least in UK) would ban watched like this for infection control reasons and there would no doubt be cheaper effective solutions - ideally employers ought to provide them. Apple Watch is a great device, a shame many schools here ban Smart Watches even if there's a SchoolTime option to minimise interruptions.

I agree. I was excited that the “health provider” face would take into account we need ‘seconds’ to count accurate vitals. Perhaps this could be an option in the always on display for those that don’t mind the extra battery power?

Until then, I suppose we will just have to pace our counts with a tune we can remember? “Staying alive” is popular in our field 🤣

I strongly agree! I gave my girlfriend a series 6 for Christmas, she is in health care. It should stay on for at least 120 seconds upon wake, without having to tap the screen. The second hand is important to count respirations and determine heart rate among other things. Please fix!!

i agree with everybody else. I will be returning the Apple Watch series 6 because of this issue, I thought the “always on” advertisement referred to the seconds too. Very disappointed!!

It really is deceiving! I purchased the Apple Watch series 6 especially for the « always on » mode because I always need it for work (nurse) and sometimes, if I’m in an isolation room (like for Covid patients) or if my hands are contaminated, I can’t tap the screen.

So yes, very disappointed.

I understand that it would significantly drain the battery like crazy, but I personally had in mind to switch the option at the beginning/end of my shifts.

I would love the feature to have the seconds visible in the"always on" mode, too! Healthcare providers like us need it every day! Apple please add this feature!

Yes. I’m positive this would not be hard to fix. Someone needs to make this option available. What an expensive watch to not have a second hand!
