I finally got it to work with the help of Apple support. Everything now works as it should, but I’m still disappointed this happened in the first place, and tHat it took almost hAlf a day to get everything set up back the way I like it.

here were the steps that worked for me:

  1. unpair apple watch
  2. make an iCloud backup of the phone
  3. go to the health app, click on your profile (top right) and look at the bottom when the data was last backed up - it should be the same time as thE Back up above.
  4. erase all Contents and settings of your iPhone.
  5. set up your iPhone by restoring it from your last backup
  6. finally pair your watch again.

then wait until everything is restored, it will take a while until all apps are downloaded again, also until all health data is fully restored. I thought for a while that I lost most of my data, but it might take 24 hours until all data is back.

it will not correct any missing map data from past runs. But today’s run shows the course I took.

last gripe: I was on a steak of 811 days of making my move target. But because the prior days calorie data was the last to be restored, it appeared like I didn’t make my target yesterday, and the streak ended. Although by now all the data is back, it looks like the count is starting over.

I had the very same problem, finally solved it:

  1. Did a network re-set on iPhone and Apple Watch. (I did this a couple of times on both devices prior but a simple reset did not cure the problem).
  2. Unpaired my Apple Watch from my iPhone.
  3. Switched bot devices off.
  4. Switched iPhone and Apple Watch back on.
  5. The repaired Apple Watch to my iPhone and 'Hey Presto' all working well since then.

Hope this helps.

I found this somewhere else (I believe it was in Apple somewhere, sorry I didn’t save link). It worked for me. My Activity was just showing nothing after I updated iPhone to iOS 14 and watch 3 to 7.0.3. I was forced to unpair and re-pair to get watchOS on.

article said: Go to activity app on the watch and slightly change the goals (calories, stand time, etc) then see if Activity being recorded. To get there hold the watch face while on app, then change goals.

I found change goals all the way at the bottom. This worked for me.

I had this same issue. I ended up unpairing the watch, doing a hard restart of the phone while connected to my Mac (down volume and power button on iPhone 7), and reinstalling the software. After many issues restoring the phone from backup and repairing the watch, it appears that the workouts are now syncing. One downside, all the previous workout data was deleted.

Tried the same steps, did it early in the morning, first thing after I woke up to be able to reach today’s goals.

took 45 minutes to do the unpair, delete/restart of phone, and repair watch. Took additional ~3 hours to update all apps/data from iCloud.

now the health app is syncing with activities from phone, maps are also back, but all my badges are gone, and so this months challenge. Ruined my 500+ days streak, 15 perfect months and 17 monthly challenges.

same thing happened after 12.0, and mostly fixed in 12.2.

why does Apple insist on releasing so awful .0 software, feels like am beta-testing time after time.

I am having the same basic issue since updating to iOS 14 (Xs) and watchOS 7, both on a Series 4 and a Series 6:

Basic data is sent from phone to watch, but only SOME of the workouts.

Here's some interesting information to add...

Since I am sharing activity with my two sons, they can see my data, as well. When I look at MY phone, some workouts are missing. But when they look at what I have shared about workouts on their devices, EVERYTHING shows up - all workouts, step counts, everything.

This tells me the data is synching somehow - into iCloud? - because my sons can see my workouts. I just can't see them all on my OWN phone!! Does this mean it's more of an iOS 14 issue, not really with the watch side of things?

I know it's the little things, of course, but I hope this gets fixed soon...
