Solved ! As others have stated I think it started happening to me because I changed the password elsewhere. So as soon as the password request flashed up this time, I entered my APPLE ID password. The password request also flashed up on my other devices and I did the same there. Everything is back to normal now.

It’s important to realise that BBC Sounds and iPlayer require your BBC password but PODCASTS requires your Apple ID account email and password.

I think I fixed it by turning the phone off and back on.

settings > podcasts > reset identifier

completely close podcasts by swiping up and holding, and then relaunch podcasts.

Mine started doing it when I changed my password elsewhere. Settings had a notification that allowed me to update my password on my entire device and it stopped.

Same problem. Turning the iphone on/off twice cleared it up. Turning off once didn't.

I went into Podcast preferences and under notifications turned off the new episodes notifications I had on for those I was following and that "so far" has done the trick...

As I stated above, my phone just started doing this today. After a simple restart, it seems to have stopped. It seems to good to be true!!!

Resetting my Apple ID password fixed the issue for me . Try changing your passwords!

swiping all apps up to close them then turning off / on seems to have fixed it for me also

Yep same here. Bought more I cloud storage (Despite having enough storage remaining) and the problem went away.

I have been enduring constant requests for sign in, that then disappeared once I started typing. I downloaded google podcast app, but really like the apple interface. This has been happening for over a month. Have tried signing out of iCloud, resetting password etc. today it all magically went away - the answer I bought more iCloud storage - it appears this may be a scam, pester until you purchase. I am tempted to see if cancelling upgrade $4.99 per month, brings the problem back.

Weird, did not work at first, worked after second turning on/off again.
