WiFi Hotspot keeps disconnecting - iPhone 11 pro (ios14)

MY (HOPE PERMANENT) FIX: I've reset the Network Settings: (Sett>Reset>Netw) https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

1. All wifi passwords were lost.
2. Device Name was reset to "iPhone", thus for the PC/Client wifi to be able re-connect
   1. Deleted from PC/Client the old named wifi connection
   2. Searched for the new named iPhone Hotspot - connected and entered password.

For me I have found a PERMANENT SOLUTION to the problem. And hotspot has stopped disconnecting like it used to. I will explain in steps:

1. Do NOT use any hotspot widget especially the one in control centre because it’s broken and causing disconnections. (Control centre pops up when you slide upside from bottom where there’s shortcuts to switch on wifi/mobile data/flash/hotspot etc..)
2. If the hotspot widget(Control centre) is ON then turn it OFF.
3. Go to Settings -> Personal Hotspot.
4. If “Allow others to join” is enabled then disable it for once and then enable it again.
5. Now connect your hotspot and I guarantee it will not disconnect itself ever again.

Go through steps 3 to 5 whenever you connect hotspot and it won’t bug you.

This is how I solved the hotspot problem- I hooked up my phone to iTunes on my laptop then I restored my phone using the laptop. My hotspot works perfectly now https://support.apple.com/kb/HT204204

OK permanently fixed in my case - wifi always connected since 2 weeks now.

Thus just Reset Network Settings as I described to my previous post.

Probably iOS14 changed the WiFi Driver needing manual reset.

This is what worked for me... (iPhone 11)

Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

This is the only solution to circumvent this frustrating bug of the ever disconnecting Personal Hotspot:

Turn off Auto-Lock on your iPhone/iPad. If you set Auto-Lock to "Never", the Personal Hotspot will stay active. Even with screen locked for hours.

No more disconnects after 1 to 5 minutes.

So someone posted earlier that shutting off Bluetooth helped. This does work!! It’s sucks that you have to shut off blue tooth, but my hotspot does not disconnect any more! Seriously. Turn off your Bluetooth and see.

Try disabling the auto lock and doing a full network reset. You need to do both for it to work…at least that’s what finally solved it for me. With that said, apple needs to fix this bug because I need my phone secure and now I have to remember to change the settings back once I am done using the hotspot! In addition, most company/corporate phones won’t allow the user to change the auto lock settings!

This issue was so annoying. Experienced it on my IPhone X. The only solution that worked was the one @thomberger proposed i.e Setting auto-lock to never worked

The only way I've found to keep it active is to go into settings and put the time out on the screen to "always on" and then keep the phone on charge - I worry that this is going to greatly reduce the battery life of the phone over time - Apple need to sort this issue!

You’re welcome raj, it remains always connected since I did reset net settings 3 weeks now so it is a permanent fix in this case I guess.

i noticed the hotspot stays connected longer if i turn off battery saver and battery, it may disconnect once or twice but stays connected afterwards

One thing I seem to have noticed with mine is it happens more often when my new package of hotspot GB is put on every month or when I’ve been housesitting and come back and try to use the TV again with it. It seems to always have issues turning off at these times the most and it takes forever to get support to do what works because i have to be put through 3 or 4 different types of agents to get someone who will do it. I always do the regular network reset, profile update, turn phone off and back on, try putting it on airplane mode, making sure all updates are downloaded and installed. If none of that works the only other thing that helped was for Apple to reset the hotspot completely and you have to be able to have at least 20 min where you are not going to need to use your phone and can shut it off and once i turned it back on it worked great for weeks without going off at all. It’s just hard to get to someone who will do it even if you tell them you were sent to the special techs and that’s what they had to do they still ask you to try everything then next person and try it again then next and again.

To keep the hotspot,

1 open google maps

2 search for random location to go

3 directions by car or walk

4 Start

Then keep google map running in background, disabled the voice guide, this will keep hotspot on.

I will tell you the solution to keep hotspot connected:

1- connect to hotspot

2- open GOOGLE MAPS

3- choose any place in your area

4- press STAR

5- disable notifications for google maps

the above steps will keep hotspot connected. I have iphone 11 pro with IOS 14.4
