iOS14 update - cannot access messages at all

Hi all!

Just updated to iOS14! But now I can't access my Messages app at all. When I click it, it opens but it's just completely blank - no messages show up. When I try to compose a new message to someone by going through the Contacts, it just won't work - it won't let me press send. However, I do get notifications about new messages. Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix the issue?
