14.0.1 fixed my wallet nfc issue on my 7+

Disabling the double click button only disables the ability to pull up the card early. The function of that button is written right under the on/off switch for the button.

When you go to settings>accessibility>touch>assistive touch>scroll down to the bottom of the screen - do you have something called "confirm with assistive touch?" That may be your alternate solution.

If a forced reboot does not work you may need to erase your device and set it up as new.

It’s not a bug it’s a new feature. I thought same but realized turning side click feature on or off either allows you to have double-click accesible when turned on meaning you can double-click and wallet opens. When you have feature off abs double-click side nothing happens. It’s a dumb two step process now cause after you double-click you have to enter passcode. It was much easier and convenient before, it would detect when near machine and then you’d enter password. Now you’re forced to double click even when you have feature off and draw near pay machine.

I am actually just slow I guess...With the new update you have to double click the side on/off button. I honestly was just trying to “touch screen” the “double click” here. Although I am not a fan of the update and curse every time I have to double click that side button every time I use Apple Pay, it does work, just super annoying. Not impressed with the update...

That’s not true. In the FaceID section if you disable Apple Pay with Face ID, then you have to enter passcode.

The problem is that they force you to double click the button then enter the passcode. That’s just stupid.

Apple Pay Customer Service just told me that the update removed the passcode option for Apple Pay. They require you to use facial recognition now.

We need this option back.

You can adjust the speed of the clicks if you go to the accessibility settings.

The only way I could resolve the issue to be able to use Apple Pay was to disconnect and then reconnect my card, then once AP selected I have to double click the right side button and then insert my security code to pay! Takes longer at the check out now but at least I can use it! 😩

It turns off because you turned off the double click in settings. Go to settings>Wallet & Apple Pay>double click side button - turn on.

Just been on chat with Apple Support who state that the issue with the Double Click button is

"a part of the ios 14 version" really annoying when you want to pay - the reader on side of machine - you have face ID and the double click button appears. Bit of a contortion act to just try and pay for something.

I just spoke with Apple. I guess some smart guy in engineering decided for security theyd force you to double click the side button. Then why have the passcode? It’s so stupid.

With my Galaxy s20: fingerprint unlock, tap and pay. (2 steps/clicks)

with the iPhone: unlock with face id. Click on wallet, click on “pay with passcode”. Double click on side button then pay. (5 clicks!!!)

if they are going to let us pay with passcode then let us pay with passcode ! WTF.

it’s been 3 months. I’m ready to ditch this I phone for good.
